Introduction

Welcome to the West Tennessee Working Dog Club web site. This is a new web site for the club and it is changing every day. We are working towards having a guestbook for you to sign, pictures for your viewing, links to other wonderful doggie sites, and much much more. If you have any questions or comments about our club, please email them to info@wtwdc.org

The West Tennessee Working Dog Club (WTWDC) is located on the grounds of For Pet's Sake, Inc. at 6295 Summer Ave., Memphis, TN. Founded in 1980, our club's objectives are to promote the trained dog as man's companion and to further the advancement of all breeds of dogs.

It is said that dog is man's best friend. At WTWDC we promote positive interaction between dogs and their owners. A great bond is formed through our training classes as owners realize how smart their dogs truly are. Classes focus on obedience and agility, although we have members who work their dogs in conformation, flyball, herding, lure coursing, retrieving, and therapy dog work as well. Club classes are held several times during the week and are geared toward intermediate to advanced training.

Our club promotes activities that benefit the community and dog/human interaction. WTWDC is a NADAC agility sanctioned club and holds trials annually. We have hosted obedience matches, show-n-goes, and Canine Good Citizen (CGC) tests. Other events in which we have conducted agility and obedience demonstrations included Bark in the Park to benefit Memphis Association of Retarded Citizens, Bartlett's Fall Folk Festival and Memphis Humane Society's Canine Carnival. Members have visited nursing homes and children's hospitals with their therapy certified dogs. WTWDC personnel are also heavily involved in the St. Jude Showcase of Dogs held each fall at the Agricenter.

Those visiting our web page who are interested in joining our club need to fill out the New Member application. Once you have completed the application, mail it to the club post office or give it to a club member. New member applications are approved at the monthly general membership meeting held on the first Wednesday of each month. There is a one time initiation fee of $25 dollars. Monthly dues are $6 dollars for a single membership and $9 dollars for a family membership. If you have any questions, please email newmembers@wtwdc.org. The General Release Liability form must be signed and submitted with your application along with your dogs shot records.

Pictures will be added to the site as time is permitted for the webmaster. Until then, you can view pictures within the photo albums. If you would like to submit some pictures, you can email them to pictures@wtwdc.org.

The Members Area is now available to club members. If you do not have a login yet, send an email to the webmaster requesting access.
